Born in Schaffhausen, lives and works in Zurich. After completing the preliminary course at the School of Design in Schaffhausen, he studied composition at the Musikhochschule Zürich-Winterthur (Mathias Steinauer, Johannes Schöllhorn), music theory with Martin Neukom and Christian Bänninger, and conducting with Christian Siegmann.

He received important instruction and inspiration in electronic music first of all from Martin Neukom and later in his studies with Gerald Bennett. In 1998, Michael Heisch received an award at the Concorso Internationale "Luigi Russolo" in Varese (Italy) for his electro-acoustic work "Edison". Michael Heisch can be heard as a double bass player in performance and music ensembles (for example with Luigi Archetti and Sebastian Hofmann).

Michael Heisch was awarded a composition commission for the Tonkünstlerfest 2003 in Lugano from the "Schweizerischer Tonkünstlerverein". His multifaceted activities also frequently take him into the realms of visual art (www.artist-trading-cards.ch) connected with (group) exhibitions in various countries including Australia, Europe, Japan, Canada and the USA.

He is also the president of the successful and traditional box club Zurich. (www.boxclubzuerich.ch).
