Absolut Trio
Bettina Boller, violin
Judith Gerster, violoncello
Stefka Perifanova, piano
The Swiss Ensemble Absolut Trio, founded in 2003, consistently pursues the dialogue between contemporary music and the past, and has already commissioned 7 compositions.
In 2005 the trio caused a sensation at home and abroad with Mischa Käser’s staging of B. A. Zimmermann’s “Présence. Ballet blanc” and with Edward Steuermann’s piano trio transcription of Schoenberg’s “Verklärte Nacht”.
This was succeded in the 2006-07 season with acclaimed tributes to Schumann, and with new works by Gary Berger and Junghae Lee, which have electronically expanded the sound of the piano trio.
The Absolut Trio's Wigmore Hall (London) debut in April 2007 was highly praised in the English specialist journals “Strad” and “Musical Opinion”.
In 2008 their first CD, including works by Arnold Schoenberg and B.A. Zimmermann as well as a newly commissioned work by the Swiss composer Rudolf Kelterborn, was released by the label „Guild“ and has gained a « Pizzicato Supersonic Award ».
Future CD productions include the establishing a link between «Fremde Scenen« by Wolfgang Rhim and works comissioned by Absolut Trio to explore the theme of the foreign, as well as a CD including the lucid first piano trio written for the Absolut Trio by Mischa Käser (world remiered: Oct 2010, Pan Festival Seoul), aside Schuberts slow trio movements as well as a trio rarity by the Swiss Romantic composer Volkmar Andreae.----> Text "absolut trio" in German
